Come see what we're all about
E.C.O. (Experience / Confidence / Opportunity) was established to create real, lasting change by providing at-risk and disadvantaged youth with access to opportunities they might not otherwise have. We believe that every young person deserves a pathway to a brighter, more stable future—regardless of their circumstances.
Our mission is to build stronger, more resilient communities by placing youth at the center of our work. Through mentorship, education, and essential resources, E.C.O. empowers individuals to reach their full potential and fosters environments where growth and well-being are possible for all.
We’re more than a nonprofit—we’re a movement driven by people who care. Our volunteers are the backbone of everything we do, dedicating their time and talent to uplift others and create meaningful change. Whether you're an individual or part of a group, there are many ways to get involved and make a difference.
Together, we’re building hope, opening doors, and shaping a future where everyone has the chance to succeed.
Empowering Communities with E.C.O.
We believe that change starts at the community level. Through outreach, collaboration, and support, we’re building a foundation where everyone has the chance to rise. Be part of our journey to shape stronger, more connected communities and a brighter tomorrow.
Meet The Team @ E.C.O.
Meet Our Founder - Ken Rusko
Ken Rusko is a multi-sport instructor with nearly 20 years of experience teaching over 10,000 individuals in skiing, golf, and scuba diving. A lifelong athlete, he began his career as a city worker in Providence before moving to Mexico in 2008 to become a Level 4 Scuba Instructor. Back in the U.S., Ken worked as a Focus Sports Instructor, Assistant Head Golf Pro at Ledgemont Country Club, and a ski/snowboard instructor in Vermont. Passionate about helping youth build confidence through sports, Ken also enjoys disc golf, board games, fishing, and hiking in his free time.
Meet Our Advocacy Director - Michael Murphy
Michael Murphy, a Providence native raised in the Elmwood neighborhood, attended local public schools including Classical High. After a brief time at the University of Hartford, he returned to Rhode Island and continued his studies at CCRI while working for the Providence School Department and valet services. Inspired by love and fatherhood, Michael pursued a career in real estate and now serves as the Deputy City Assessor for Providence, while also working as a Realtor with Churchill & Banks Residential. Proud father of two daughters, one in college and one soon to begin at Johnson & Wales, Michael recently felt called to give back. Following the loss of several loved ones, he accepted a board position with E.C.O., a nonprofit supporting disadvantaged youth, introduced to him by longtime friend Ken Rusko.
Meet Our " " - Nicole Lucas
Master of Arts in Education/Secondary Teacher Education - I met Ken while working at Ocean Tides, and appreciated the way he spoke to students—with respect and without judgment. That perspective has always mattered to me, so when I learned about E.C.O., I knew it would be a place where young people feel valued and have a chance to move forward. I am glad to be a part of it
